Weekly Emergency Supplemental Food
The C.A.R.E. program is open for the residents of the Escalon Unified School District who need food and whose income meets Federal guidelines. A bag of food is provided free, one for each household. Currently we are providing for about 110-120 households a week. Senior Brown Bag
The Second Tuesday after the First Monday from 8:00 to 11:00 am seniors over 60 years of age can get a bag of food. The second disbursement is two weeks following. The cost is $12.00 yearly paid in November (pro-rated in following months). This was designed for people on a fixed income and has specific income requirements. As with all three food programs we do not arrange or administer any organized volunteer delivery program. Some people rely on friends to help deliver their food to them.

Emergency Food Assistance is available to San Joaquin County resident households two times per calendar month. The mission of the Emergency Food Bank is to build a stronger community by providing a safety net of healthy food, nutrition education, and hope to residents of San Joaquin County who find themselves in need. The Food Bank also provides food products to partner pantries throughout the County, numerous non-profit agencies, community-based organizations, and to events related to healthy living and nutrition. The Food Bank also provides a service to grocery stores, food processors, farmers, and reclamation distribution centers by taking excess or usable foods that would otherwise be thrown away. Additionally, the EFB serves as a job training site by providing a place for the community to learn basic job skills, including warehouse operations, truck operation, data entry, and clerical office skills. MEAL SERVICE
The Modesto Gospel Mission serves 450 meals a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. We serve 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, and 2 dinners per day to the poor and homeless in the community. The food served by the Mission is donated by individuals and businesses in the area, and our service provides warm meals to individuals and families where the only meal they may be able to eat that day is from the Mission.
During Thanksgiving the Mission serves around 1,000 meals to the community, and at Christmas we serve close to 2,000 meals to men, women, and children during the holidays. Our meal service is a vital part of the Modesto Gospel Mission and could not be what it is today without the help and support of our sponsors and the Stanislaus community.
