Family Promise of Greater Modesto Added on March 6, 2023

  • Category: Housing / Shelter
  • County: Stanislaus

Description:
Shelter Our Interfaith Hospitality Network is an opportunity for people from many faiths and backgrounds to provide shelter, meals and hope to local families in need. The program works to address the individual causes of homelessness and connect families to resources that will help them make the journey to a permanent home and a self-sustaining life. When we provide a safe place for families to stay, parents can focus on a vision for their family’s future and work on education, employment and housing goals. Over 80% of the guest families we serve have obtained stable housing. Once a family finds a place to live, we continue to help them transition to a self-sufficient lifestyle. Families are not alone on their journey. We work together to set goals, celebrate progress, and provide support every step of the way.

Housing Stabilization How Does Family Promise help families on their journey to stable housing? All adults sheltering with Family Promise agree to participate in our intensive case management services. Families set up a plan to find work and manage their resources, always with a goal toward providing a secure home for their children. Our program helps parents connect to resources they need for education, childcare and job search. New Beginnings, our unique financial education program, teaches money management concepts and accountability. Families learn how to think about their resources differently, track income & spending each week and can save 75% or more of their income toward housing costs. Our approach of keeping families together, identifying their strengths, partnering with the community for solutions means that families are at much lower risk of returning to homelessness.
